Menu shortcuts

From Plex-XML

In your day-to-day work with a business software application you will often use just a handful of functions to get most of the work done. So it might be a good idea to find a way to access these function as easy as possible.

This could be done using prominent placed shortcuts. Within applications created with the Plex-XML framework every user can define his or her own shortcuts.

You can also have multiple shortcuts for the same function. This might be useful if you would like to use the same function with different selections. For instance for an address book application you can have a shortcut for your customer and another shortcut for your supplier.

Steps to create a shortcut

  • Call your function as always using the tree menu

  • If you would like to get a shortcut for selected data do your selections now.

  • Press the little yellow star button in the upper right corner of your application Image:MenuShortcutStar.png

  • This will open a little form where you can change the default data for your shortcut:

  • You need to type a name and select an icon for your shortcut. The settings for 'Request' and 'Image' will be provided for you and should only be changed if you are an experienced Plex-XML user.

  • You can set the special value to "use as start program". The next time you login to the application it will call this function as a start up program.

  • Press the save button

This will place a new shortcut for this function including any given selection on top of the tree menu. If you would like to change or delete a shortcut just double click the shortcut. This will bring up the update menu as shown below again.
