Refresh Format

If you have added fields to an existing table in the database your can continue to use your existing format definitions. If you need to see the new fields in an existing format you can refresh that format definition with one click. After that the new fields will be inserted into the existing format definition.

The refresh of a format will happen if you set the select box "Refresh format" to "Yes" and click "Save" for each format that should be updated.

How can I go to this "Update Format" page?

If the security setting allow you to do format maintenance you can do one of the following:

• In the security menu go to "Formats & Fields" and select the sub-menu "Functions"
  • You will see a grid containing all functions and its available formats
  • Click on the line with the format you want to refresh
• In the grid or single record panel that should be updated
  • Click on the left wrench at the lower left corner of the format to open the format maintenance grid
  • On top of that format maintenance grid click on the update format button

Further remarks

• The entries for already existing fields will not be changed by this function.
• If you have delete a field in a table you need to handle this manually in the format. One way to do this is to delete the existing formats for that file. Completely new formats will be created automatically at the next (first) call of that format.
